Storms developed in the afternoon of Monday 1/02/2016 in the ranges to the west of Brisbane. Storms were largely isolated and developed repeatedly in tracks that moved to the south and to the north of Brisbane. Some of these storms exhibited some spectacular classic storm structure.

Hail was reported at Narangba and near Cleveland. The storms to the north of Brisbane, passing through Deception Bay lasted into the evening as they moved to the north east. The storms were very lightning active, and produced a spectacular sunset lightning show. Lightning was continuously strobing out of the cell for hours on end. The storms north of Brisbane were shown on radar to be reaching up to 63 000 feet high.
